Annual Fundraiser

The Katy Volunteer Fire Department holds an annual fund-raiser in the form of a fajita dinner and auction during the month of October. Traditionally, current and past members, friends, family and extended family of the fire department put forth long hours of intensive labor. Some members involved will gather items to be auctioned off during the dinner, raffled off for a door prize, or put up for silent auction. Others will prepare the food to be served by cleaning, cutting and marinating the meat, cutting onions, cooking the meat and other food items. Chicken, rice and beans, and all other trimmings are included. Homemade deserts prepared by our ladies auxiliary are also available to those with a sweet tooth and still have room for a bite or two. We will even pack you a dinner plate loaded to the hilt.

All persons involved donate time and energy to a great cause. Community stores donate or sell food or auction items at or below cost. As items are being gathered for the event tickets for the raffles and dinner are being sold. $10 gets you an all you can eat dinner for an adult and $5 for a senior citizen or child. You may also purchase tickets at the door.

Annually the volunteers decide where the proceeds of the fundraiser will be allocated. In the past, KVFD purchased the safety trailer, which is displayed under Public Education on this web site. Also purchased in years past are equipment and supplies such as fire gear, air packs, hose and other essential tools used in the fire service. From the explorer that pours a cup of tea to the citizen who purchases that last auction item, the support of all involved is greatly needed and appreciated.
